I love hummingbirds so every year we put out our feeder. Don’t waste money on expensive store bought feeder solutions when all you have to do is mix water and sugar. I use one part sugar to one part water and it works just fine. I’ve read recommendations with much larger ratios but why spend the money if you don’t have to especially when much of it is going into your fuel bill already. I am on the lookout for a new feeder as ours is getting old and worn. I found this model which is rather pretty. It’s the Opus Avant Garden Looking Glass Hummingbird Feeder

I am yogurt lover but I get frustrated when all the goodness is stuck in the corners. I mean heck, those yogurt containers are tiny enough as it is. A traditional round spoon doesn’t fit into those elusive corners. But someone had a stroke of genius and designed a spoon that does fit into those corners and gets every last drop. Simple and sweet!
The only problem is I can’t see where to buy these spoons. If anyone finds them for sale, please let me know. I will definitely buy some.

You’ve heard of designer shoes and handbags right? So why not have designer weapons? Check out these designer guns, the latest in the haute couture, high fashion weapon arsenal. Obviously their practicality as far as hunting goes is pretty much zero, but hey they look great. Actually they don’t work but that didn’t stop great fashion names like Louis Vuitton, fendi and Versace from applying their labels to these keepsakes. At about $3,000 a pop, who’s in line?
You gotta love this chainsaws! Definitely my favorites. Should I get one for my husband onFfather’s Day? He uses his regular ol’ boring saw frequently.

Stories vary as to exactly how many miles this Microjoule car actually gets to the gallon but one thing is for sure; it gets a lot more miles to the gallon than most of the cars on the road today.

This car first made an appearance in the 2006 Shell Oil Eco-Marathon. Shell Oil you say? Well yeah, they have to do PR because just about everybody is ready to slit their throats. The Microjoule won both in 2006 and 2007 in the prototype car division. One thing people have to realize though is that these cars are not being driven the way you and I drive. And they are tiny. They are accelerated slowly, coasted down hills and aren’t using the AC. But as the price of oil continues to rise, don’t be surprised if you see your fellow drivers coasting down hill in front of you.

Amazing as it sounds, it’s true. This electronic display gets it’s juice (pun intended) by using the glucose and oxygen in your blood and turning it into electricity. The bluetooth interface which is used to connect with your portable devices, is implanted beneath the skin and can be used as a tattoo, a computer or even a phone. The display is operated like a touchscreen. I kid you not, it’s a touch screen on your arm! You can even watch videos on your skin.
This gadget also doubles as a health monitor, keeping an eye on the condition of your blood supply.
So how does it work? Right above the implant is a tattoo made with “smart ink”. Below the tattoo is a matrix of pixels that produce an electric field. When you press the touch screen, you activate the matrix.

Forward thinkers have been working on the design of a backpack helicopter since the 1940’s. With time the designs became more sophisticated and the reality of a backpack helicopter was nearing.

We’ve all seen ultralights, and this helicopter looks somewhat similar to one of those with the difference being of course the way it is propelled, with its engine and blades above the pilot instead of behind him.

The tips of the blades actually have rocket engines on them (above photo).

A new company is working on a light backpack helicopter that will be propelled by blade tip rocket engines as in the above concept diagram. It will be so light that it will be attached to the pilot by only a carbon fiber vest. Notice that it has no tail rotor as in the model in the previous photo. Tail rotor failure is what causes 80% of the helicopter accidents so eliminating this piece should eliminate that cause of accidents.
Soon your neighbors will be dropping in to say hello, from above.

Do you like the idea of getting some exercise while you work at your computer? Do you get nagged about getting some exercise instead of parking your butt in front of the computer all day? Well this work station from Steelcase allows you to get that exercise and use the computer at the same time! You can also just play video games (not at work!) or surf the net and still be active in body as well as in mind. What will they think of next?

Calling all cat lovers who hate their ugly cat litter boxes: check out this camouflaged cat litter cabinet. Made out of wood, this both functional and pretty box will keep your bathroom looking like a bathroom and not a cat lavatory. It’s a nice piece of furniture with a handy storage area for a few other cat items. Access to the litter tray is as simple as opening the doors. These cabinets
come in cherry, birch and mahogany and kitty can access the litter box through the movable flap door. This door will also serve to keep the kitty odor inside the box. These cabinets are a bit pricey but bear in mind they are also a piece of furniture. Of course there is always a more affordable a litter box.

We have found that those cat litter boxes that come with doors work very well at keeping the odors and kitty litter particles IN the box and not outside the litter box. Open or doorless litter boxes smell and you can find particles of litter all over the house.
Now there are those that have trained their cats to use the toilet. Please share with me how you did it! Clumping cat litter is not cheap.
If you want to see pics of our great kitty head on over to Musings at Windyridge. You might also see a few sheep.

If so, you should probably clean it! Get the hose attachment of your vacuum cleaner, or use a mini vacuum, and suck the dust out. Make sure the humidity is not too low or wear an anti-static wrist strap
to prevent electrostatic discharge which can fry your computer. If you allow your computer to get this dusty you run the risk of burning out a card. Trust me…I know this from experience. I toasted my video card many years ago because I hadn’t cleaned my computer in two years. A good rule of thumb is once a year, remove the case and vacuum out the dirt. If you live in a dusty environment or burn wood for heat, do it more frequently. The dust prevents air from being vented and circulated properly inside your computer thus increasing the chances of overheating. A ten minute cleanup can save hundreds of dollars later. And NO, that’s NOT my computer!

Got pencils? If you do you will find this multi-size pencil sharpener handy. It almost makes you want to go and find a bunch of pencils to sharpen doesn’t it? You can find them at the MoMA store. Now if they could just come out with an electric model, that would be really cool.
